Christmas 2011

SP4 Dec 2011

From where I was watching this was a very successful regatta for the Sandy Bay Rowing Club. It was brilliant to witness so many crews getting onto the water. Many thanks to all the parents for helping out in the kiosk and being on hand for launching etc. Your time is valuable, especially at this time of the year, and the club is very thankful that you could come.

Here are a selection of photos that I took. It was hard to get a pre-race smile from many of the juniors. Overcoming nerves is hard. But the smiles were there after the race – even Kate P. could laugh. You will have to learn from our senior girls who looked relaxed and calm before the race. Bridget and Jane have a technique whereby they pull an outrageous face.

Congratulations to the girls on their maiden race. A fantastic effort! May this be the start of an illustrious rowing career. Well done to the coaches too!

Unfortunately the weather was rotten and we couldn’t get onto the water. We retired to the sheds and had a good time nevertheless. Here are some photos. My apologies to those who didn’t get into a shot. We should have a vote for the best pic. My vote is for the cool dude Clint, closely followed by Jess.
